Shoes are a staple that we take for granted. Unfortunately, some people in our community are in need of a pair of shoes.
The Elks Lodge 2672 in Ruskin is planning a fundraiser on Nov 16 to purchase shoes for children, veterans, and the homeless who currently live in our town. There will be a $10 admission fee which includes complimentary red or white wine and many hors d'oeuvres. There will also be a fashion show showcasing the fall line from Accessories and More, of Sarasota with shopping before and after the show. Proceeds will be disbursed to St. Vincent de Paul Society for the benefit of local elementary school kids; St. Anne Cathollic Church Food Pantry for the homeless and veterans; and Mary & Martha House for its 17 shelter children.
You can purchase tickets at the Sun City Center Area Chamber of Commerce (1651 Sun City Center Plaza), the Elks Lodge, or at the door the day of the event.
Tax-deductible donations by check can be made payable to the Elks with "Shoes for Christmas!' written in the memo if you want to help but can not make the event. Mail your donation to Elks Lodge, 2672, P.O. Box 1209 Ruskin, 33575.
