This week's business spotlight is dedicated to a local mom and baker, Danielle Harding.
I found Danielle on social media and was blown away by her creations. I recently had a custom cake made for me. Isn't it adorable?!
I chose a lemon cake with a vanilla buttercream frosting. It was delicious and did not last long in my house... my boys devoured it! Thank you for the scrumptious treat Danielle!

"My name is Danielle Harding and I have always had a passion for doing cakes. I worked in the grocery business for 7+ years, and during that time made birthday, wedding, and special event cakes. I have always made my own children's cakes as well as friends cakes for their special events. In the fall of 2015, I began to seriously consider starting my own cake business. My friends and family had been encouraging me to do so for years, and I finally started to find the confidence within myself to take the plunge. I slowly began to research some of the tools and supplies I would need to open a business. I never realized just how many items were needed for just one cake until I started compiling my pricing spreadsheets and gathering inventory! It was truly an eye opener, but at the same time, it lit my fire to get this business off the ground. In January 2016, I began to design my business page and became stuck on selecting a name. I already had several pictures showcasing my work, the tools to do the job, and the skills needed to get started, but what is a business without a name? So, I turned to my biggest support group- my friends. While talking in our group message, someone tried to type my name, but their phone auto corrected “Danielle” to “Dancing Elle”. We all had a good laugh and thought it was cute. After several days of back and forth with ideas, it seemed the only name we could all agree on was “Dancing Elle”. It was whimsical, unique, and fresh. So, “Delights by Dancing Elle” was born."
"I officially launched the business Facebook page on April 23rd, 2016, and it’s been a whirlwind ever since. Within a week we have 50 followers, some of whom I had never met. We just hit our one year anniversary and now have 130 followers, each one as awesome as the other. I have grown so much as a cake decorator; I have learned new fondant and gum paste skills, developed new cake flavor recipes, and met some amazing people along the way. Cake decorating for me is a great way to focus and relax. I find it very therapeutic. However, the best part about what I do is the response from customers. I love to see the smile on someone’s face when they see their cake, knowing that I played a small part in making their special day just a little extra special. "
